Frequently asked questions

How is grayscale worked out?

Each pixel becomes the brightness your eye sees in it, weighting green most and blue least, so the photo keeps its natural contrast.

What is pure black and white for?

Signed documents, line drawings, stencils and printing on cheap printers. Move the threshold to choose how dark a pixel must be to turn black.

Is the colour gone for good?

Only in the new file. Your original image isn’t changed.

What format is the result?

The same as your image: JPG stays JPG, PNG stays PNG and WebP stays WebP.
