What is a HEIC file?
HEIC (or HEIF) is the format iPhones and iPads use for photos by default. It saves space, but many apps and websites can’t open it.
PNG or JPG for iPhone photos?
JPG makes much smaller files that are fine for sharing. Choose PNG when you’ll edit the photo further and want no quality loss at all.
Why don’t my photos show a preview?
Most browsers can’t display HEIC, so we show the file type instead. The photos still convert normally.
What about Live Photos and bursts?
If a HEIC file holds several images, each becomes its own PNG.
