Why use Utils365
Every language
Words in Chinese, Japanese and Thai are counted properly even without spaces, and an emoji counts as one character.
Limits at a glance
A bar fills as you write and turns red when you go over, for posts, captions, titles and meta descriptions.
Top words
See the words you use most, with how often they appear, to spot repetition or check keyword density.

Frequently asked questions
How are words counted?
Words are split the way your browser splits them for that language, so Chinese, Japanese and Thai words are found without spaces. Hyphenated words like well-known and contractions like don’t count as one word.
Do spaces count as characters?
In the Characters count, yes: spaces, tabs and line breaks are included. Characters without spaces leaves them out. An emoji or a letter with an accent always counts as one character.
How is reading time worked out?
Reading time assumes 238 words a minute, an average silent reading speed for adults. Speaking time assumes 150 words a minute, a comfortable pace for a talk or a voice-over.
Does the X (Twitter) limit match what X counts?
Closely, but not exactly. X counts every link as 23 characters and some characters, such as Chinese and Japanese, as two. Use the bar as a guide and check before you post.
What does Ignore common words do?
It hides very common English words such as the, and and of from the top words list, so the words that carry meaning stand out. It only applies when the text looks English; other languages are left as they are.
How are sentences and paragraphs counted?
A sentence ends with a full stop, question mark or exclamation mark, but not after abbreviations like e.g. or Mr. Each line with text on it counts as a paragraph, and blank lines are ignored.
