Frequently asked questions

How do I convert Celsius to Fahrenheit?

Multiply by 9, divide by 5 and add 32. So 20 °C is 68 °F. To go back, subtract 32, multiply by 5 and divide by 9.

How many centimetres are in an inch?

Exactly 2.54. A foot is 30.48 cm, and a mile is 1.609344 km. To turn inches into centimetres, multiply by 2.54.

How many pounds are in a kilogram?

About 2.20462. A pound is exactly 0.45359237 kg, so divide kilograms by that number to get pounds.

Is a kilobyte 1,000 or 1,024 bytes?

Officially 1,000. The 1,024-byte unit is a kibibyte (KiB), and Windows shows it as KB. That is why a 1 TB drive appears as about 931 GB.

What is the difference between US and imperial gallons?

A US gallon is 3.785 litres and an imperial (UK) gallon is 4.546 litres. Pints and fluid ounces differ too, so check which one a recipe or label uses.
